Some centuries ago the Fluvià flew into the sea along the course presently known as El Riuet. To find the Fluvià head for Sant Pere Pescador , a village that was actually born due to the river. The route goes through Cinc Claus and continues on a wide track towards l'Armentera . Thence it becomes a pleasant track parallel to the river. The bird species around it will delight birdwatchers. To come back, follow Les Dunes beach. On the final stretch, you will find sand for a couple of kilometres parallel to the road. Caution is advised.Sant Pere Beach , return to the kilometric mark 7.46 and continue towards l'Arbre Sec . In this case, the excursion will amount to near 40 km.

0,00 Sant Martí d’Empúries . Depart from the roundabout. Join to the bicycle lane towards l’Escala.
Cinc Claus .
Cinc Claus . Look for a fingerpost green sign across the chapel. Choose the GR92 signed L’Armentera . Stay on this ample track, minding possible farmers’ traffic. Ermita de Santa Reparada (15th – 16th Cents.)
Armentera.
5,63 The path, paved in the last stretch, branches at the arrival to a house. Continue to the left (if we turn to the right, at less than one kilometer we will find a magnificent fortified homestead).
’Armentera , go over a bridge and go through the village following the marks of the GR92.
Riu Fluvià edge. Turn right.
Sant Pere Pescador.
8,95 Take the path that passes under the bridge and stay along the river edge.
Overlook on the river mouth.
Sant Pere Pescador Beach. To you left, is the river mouth, at half kilometre away. A stretch unsuitable for cycling. Walk southwards on the sand in the direction of l’Escala .
8,95 We go under the bridge and we take the path that follows the river.
9,64 We go over a bridge and continue on a wider track, to the left.
10,81 To the left, we continue on a path.
11,95 Viewpoint towards the estuary.
12,26 Sant Pere Pescador Beach. To our left, there is the mouth, at half kilometer away. stretch not appropriate for cycling. We can get there on foot. To go back we have to walk a little on the sand towards l’Escala.
12,60 From the park, the sand is more or less compact and allows pedaling. On some stretches, you will find an easier path on the right.
13,43 When you reach La Gaviota campsite, it is optional to walk on the beach or pedal on the path parallel to the beach.
Empúries Residential Park area. Leave the beach here and take the parallel path, which you will find behind the trees.
Les Dunes campsite fence preventing you to reach the beach, which is partly private till La Ballena Alegre campsite. This will cause you to take an odd detour inland: you will have to border the campsite perimeter, turning right, and pedal along a narrow bike path parallel to the main road.
17,20 The crash barrier ends. Beware; the bike lane is two ways and it is marked on the left of a narrow high traffic road.
La Ballena Alegre Càmping. Caution: the bike lane narrows even more.
Fluvià Vell . The Fluvià river that we passed a while ago, used to flow into the sea at this location. This watercourse marks the boundary of the municipalities between Sant Pere and l'Escala. Turn right and continue straight ahead.
Sant Martí d’Empúries .
