"The Dam Jawn" is a band made up of five young musicians from the Dutch Jazz scene. All of them formed as a group through a shared experience in the United States. Having lived and studied together in Philadelphia for half a year , they found their collective voice by composing and arranging their own original music inspired by their experience.
Although all five members of The Dam Jawn live and are active in Amsterdam, the Quintet is very international. Martín Díaz (alto sax) and Joan Fort (guitar) were born in Catalonia, Spain. Philip Lewin (double bassist) in Stuttgart (Germany) and Nitin Parree (drums) as well as Frank Groenendijk (tenor sax) are from the Netherlands. His debut album features the collaboration of the legendary alto saxophonist Dick Oatts, based in New York and member of iconic formations in the history of jazz. The Dam Jawn have come together and formed their own sound inspired by the energy and feel of the current Philadelphia Jazz scene, as well as their rich musical past.
For this occasion, and exclusively for this album presentation tour, they invite Dick Oatts himself from New York to perform this European Tour 2023 where they present their debut album "Master Street", recorded in Philadelphia in the spring of 2022. A unique occasion that promises to be remembered.”
