Portalblau is l'Escala summer festival.
The Portalblau Festival was born in the summer of 2008 in the municipality of l’Escala as a meeting place and cultural exchange in the Mediterranean, with the aim of commemorating the one hundred years since the official excavations began in Empúries.
Portalblau, the Festival of Music and Art in the Mediterranean, will be held this year between March 18 and September 8 and will include more than twenty proposals that will take place in different spaces of l'Escala and Empúries.
Portalblau presents its 17th edition with a strong cultural, social and environmental commitment, reinforcing the Valors i Compromís program. This edition includes names such as Sopa de Cabra, Mayte Martín, Guillem Gisbert, Júlia Colom and others. The programming reaches a diverse range of musical performances and cultural activities, such as a theater show and a podcast directed by Lucía Lijtmaer and Isa Calderón. New features include the "Mirades Blaves" lecture series with experts in various areas. Within the festival, there will be a rap workshop at the INS El Pedró, directed by Babaflow, which encourages artistic expression of students and reflects on migration in the Mediterranean.
The Portalblau Festival also reinforces its commitment to initiatives such as the 3rd edition of the training course and the second edition of the contest for emerging talents. The festival continues its collaboration with other cultural entities and festivals in the region, and will support the ECCIT Association and the Fundación Acogida.
Portalblau stands out for its diversity of activities and its commitment to sustainable cultural development and the improvement of people's lives.
